Ice a cake

Learn how to ice a cake like a professional with this easy technique.

Step 1: After baking, set the cake aside to cool. Use a large serrated knife to remove the top of the cake to create a flat surface.

Step 2: Turn the cake upside down and place on a serving platter. Use a clean, dry pastry brush to remove any crumbs from the platter.

Step 3: Pour icing onto the centre of the cake. Use a pallet knife to spread the icing towards the edges, allowing it to run over the sides.
